Artist Mentorship Program with HKWPEA

At the end of 2021, Art Next Power joined hands with The Hong Kong Women Professionals and Entrepreneurs Association (HKWPEA) to launch an Artist Mentorship Program. The program aims to connect 10 young artists in Hong Kong to 10 member entrepreneurs of the Association. The entrepreneurs, as mentors, will use their resources to help participating artists expand their network, hone their business and marketing skills, and equip them with the practical know-how in order to thrive in the ever-changing art market. Match ups are made on a 1-on 1 basis.

The first match-up session was successfully held on 20 December 2021 at a|n Gallery in Central, where 10 artists presented themselves to the HKWPEA members and they together discussed ideas for the program.

"Meet the Artists" Virtual Program

In March 2021, Art Next Power jointly organized a "Meet the Artists" Virtual Program with Hong Kong Women Professionals & Entrepreneurs Association (HKWPEA), with two local artists (Carrie Cheng and Kasper Forest) as guest speakers. During the seminar themed as “The Development of Art in the Post Pandemic Era”, the two artists revealed how COVID-19 had changed the way they operated, how they had adapted to the circumstances and discussed their ideas on the development of art following COVID-19 with the hosts from HKWPEA and Art Next Power, followed by a Q&A session at the end.

The seminar was attended online by around 30 people, including artists and members of HKWPEA. It successfully promoted the exchange between artists and entrepreneurs, laying the foundation for the birth of the Artist Mentorship Program at the end of the year.

Exchange with Kenneth Fok, JP

In early September 2021, a number of Hong Kong artists met with Mr. Kenneth Fok Kai-kong, JP at an exchange session organised by Art Next Power at the +VE/-VE Exhibition, in Kwun Tong. Mr. Fok has been an active advocate for Hong Kong's cultural and art sector, himself being the Chairman of Culture Action and current Legislative Councillor of the Functional Constituency of Sports, Performing Arts, Culture and Publication.

Participating artists included young and emerging artists such as Angel Hui Hoi-kiu, Carrie Cheng, as well as more well-established artists like KC Wong, Eric Ho Kay-nam and Mediha Ting. This exchange was an invaluable occasion for artists and a politician to share their insights on the current development of the art sector in Hong Kong, to hear the views from both side and discussed how the industry can move forward together.
